From 2018 to 2021, Algeria's fresh grape market volume expanded steadily from 503 thousand tons to 630 thousand tons. This growth was primarily fueled by the continuous expansion of cultivated vineyard areas, such as in Hassi Lefhal, and the strategic adoption of early and late ripening varieties that extended the harvest season from May to November. The Boumerdès region solidified its role as the national production hub, contributing over half of the country's output.

After reaching a peak in 2021, the market volume adjusted to 612 thousand tons in 2022, a period coinciding with new regulatory frameworks including the 2022 investment law and mandatory Arabic labeling for imports. Adverse weather events, particularly sirocco winds in 2023, temporarily affected yields, but the ongoing geographical expansion of vineyards into regions like Médéa and El Tarf helped maintain overall production, which stabilized around 615 thousand tons. Algeria's fresh grape production grew for the second year in a row. In 2020, the country produced 554.2 thousand tonnes, marking a slight increase of 0.8% from the previous year. Over the 2017-2020 period, production overall declined by 2.2%, with an average annual growth rate of 0.7%. The lowest output was in 2018 at 503.0 thousand tonnes, which saw the largest drop of 11.2%. In contrast, 2019 experienced the biggest rise at 9.3%.
