Earlier Report Observations

The market for fresh grapes in Lebanon showed considerable variation from 2018 to 2023. Domestic production rose consistently from 102.6 thousand tons to 151.9 thousand tons, while export volumes fluctuated sharply. The market size first contracted before climbing to a peak.

After decreasing from 97.6 thousand tons in 2018 to 77.0 thousand tons in 2020, the market size recovered to 91.2 thousand tons in 2022. A dramatic increase then brought it to 143.5 thousand tons in 2023, a year when export shipments plummeted from 58.5 thousand tons to 8.4 thousand tons.

Imports remained minimal throughout the period, so shifts in market size largely reflected the changing relationship between rising domestic output and volatile export flows. By 2023, the domestic market accounted for a much larger portion of Lebanon's grape production.
