Algerian orange production increased from 1 134 thousand tons in 2018 to 1 200 thousand tons in 2019, driven by improved domestic demand. The following two years saw a moderate contraction, with output declining to 1 175 thousand tons in 2020 and 1 137 thousand tons in 2021.

The market rebounded in 2022, with production rising to 1 188 thousand tons, supported by the introduction of advanced aeroponic technology in new vertical farming projects. Growth accelerated sharply in 2023, reaching 1 310 thousand tons, a direct result of extensive new citrus plantings that expanded the total cultivated area to a record 70 000 hectares.

Following two consecutive years of growth, Algeria's orange production volume experienced a decline. In 2020, the country produced 1 175 thousand tonnes of oranges, representing a modest decrease of 2.1% compared to the previous year. Over the entire 2017-2020 period, production increased by 15.9%, which translates to an average annual growth rate of 5.0%. The highest production level was recorded in 2019 at 1 200 thousand tonnes, while the most significant year-on-year increase occurred in 2018 with growth of 11.9%.
