Earlier Report Observations

In 2018 and 2019, the Austrian beer market volume grew, reaching 843 million liters in 2019. This expansion was supported by the launch of new products like the Stibitzer cider, which broadened the market's appeal, alongside increasing consumer interest in non-alcoholic and craft beer varieties.

The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 sharply reduced the market volume to 734 million liters due to the closure of restaurants and bars, a key sales channel. Recovery began in the following years: by 2022, volume had risen to 777 million liters, driven by the sustained trend toward alcohol moderation and strong growth in non-alcoholic beer. In 2023, the market reached 803 million liters as producers introduced innovations such as beers fortified with vitamins and minerals.

In 2024, the market volume decreased to 777 million liters.
