The Spanish beer market volume showed an upward trend from 2018 to 2024, interrupted by a significant contraction in 2020. After reaching 4.3 billion liters in 2019, the market fell to 3.7 billion liters the following year before rebounding strongly in 2021.

From 2021 onward, market growth continued steadily, with volume climbing to 4.5 billion liters by 2024. Domestic production followed a similar pattern, recovering from the 2020 low and contributing to the overall market expansion.

Production beer in Spain

Spain's beer production experienced a two-year period of growth before declining. In 2019, output reached its peak at 4 656 million US dollars. However, in 2020, production fell to 4 044 million US dollars, representing a significant 13.2% decrease compared to the previous year. Exports beer from Spain

Spain's beer exports have grown for the third consecutive year. In 2020, the country exported 368.0 million liters of beer, which represents a 20.1% increase from 2019. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, exports rose by 27.3%, equating to an annualized growth rate of 8.4%.

From 2017 to 2020, Portugal, China, and the United Kingdom were the key partners for Spain's beer exports in volume terms. Portugal accounted for 28.2% of exports, China for 14.6%, and the United Kingdom for 13.4%. Together, these three countries represented 56.2% of Spain's total beer export flows.

In 2019, Spain's beer exports in value terms saw their largest decline of 2.3%. However, in 2020, exports rebounded to 307.7 million US dollars, up by 17.9% compared to the previous year.
