From 2018 to 2020, the Polish beer market contracted in volume from 3 824 million liters to 3 677 million liters, while its value in US dollars rose to 2 227 million in 2020 after a slight decline the previous year. Domestic production fell from 4 136 million liters to 3 972 million liters over the same period, yet the production value increased from 2 362 million USD to 2 385 million USD, indicating a shift towards higher-value products or increased prices.

Trade flows strengthened throughout the period to 2024. Imports grew steadily from 83 million liters in 2018 to 130 million liters in 2024, with their value nearly doubling. Exports also expanded from 395 million liters to 404 million liters in volume and rose significantly in value from 214 million USD to 311 million USD, reflecting Poland's growing role in international beer trade.

In 2020, Poland's beer production was valued at 2 385 million US dollars, marking a modest increase of 3.9% compared to 2019. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, production grew by 12.5%, with an average annual growth rate of 4.0%. The largest decline occurred in 2019, at 2.9%, while the largest increase was recorded in 2018, at 11.5%.

In 2020, Poland's beer export volume totaled 404.6 million liters, representing a moderate gain of 6.1% from 2019. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, exports increased by 18.2%, with an average annual growth rate of 5.7%. The largest decline was recorded in 2019, at 3.5%, while the largest increase occurred in 2018, at 15.4%.

From 2017 to 2020, the partner landscape for beer exports in volume terms was diverse. Germany accounted for 13.7% of exports, Italy for 11.7%, and the Netherlands for 10.8%, together forming only 36.3% of total flows. The remaining 63.7% was distributed among many other countries.

In 2020, Poland's beer exports totaled 239.1 million US dollars, constituting a rise of 15.8% relative to the prior year. Between 2017 and 2020, exports increased by 48.5%, equating to an annualized rate of 14.1%. The largest decline was recorded in 2019, at 3.5%, while the largest increase occurred in 2018, at 32.9%.

From 2017 to 2020, the portfolio of buyers for Polish beer in value terms was broad. The Netherlands contributed 12.9% of exports, Italy 10.7%, and Germany 10.4%, together accounting for only 34.0% of total exports. Many other countries held smaller but non-negligible shares.

Imports beer to Poland

Poland's beer import volume increased for the second consecutive year. In 2020, the country imported 82.9 million liters of beer, equivalent to an increase of 15.5% versus the previous year. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, imports grew by 21.2%, with an average annual growth rate of 6.6%. The lowest import volume was recorded in 2018, at 82.9 million liters, which also saw the largest decline of 7.8%.

Throughout 2017 to 2020, Czechia, Germany, and the Netherlands consistently led in Poland's beer import structure by volume. Czechia accounted for 37.3% of imports, Germany for 25.1%, and the Netherlands for 7.3%, jointly representing 69.8% of total flows.

Poland's beer import value increased for the third consecutive year. In 2020, imports totaled 80.8 million US dollars, up by 9.1% compared to the previous year. Between 2017 and 2020, imports grew by 23.7%, equating to an annualized rate of 7.4%.

From 2017 to 2020, Czechia, Germany, and Mexico formed the core group of markets for Poland's beer imports in value terms. Czechia accounted for 36.5% of imports, Germany for 21.5%, and Mexico for 9.7%, together representing 67.7% of total flows.
