This surge aligned with broader European growth where consumption of plastic pipes and hoses rose by 9.7%, driven by increased industrialization and infrastructure development across the region.

After 2021, the market contracted, falling to 29 136 t in 2022 and further declining to 25 386 t by 2024. This downward trajectory reflected a European-wide retreat from the peak production and consumption levels recorded in 2022. While European imports and consumption saw a modest 3-3.5% uptick in 2024, the Lithuanian market continued to trend below its earlier highs throughout this period.

The lowest value was recorded in 2019 at 16 673 thousand US dollars, which also saw the largest decline of 13.2%.

In 2021, Lithuania produced 8 198 tonnes of plastic tubes, pipes, hoses, and their fittings, down by 20.9% year-on-year. Between 2018 and 2021, production fell by 17.3%, translating to an average annual decrease of 6.1%. Over the 2018-2021 period, exports dropped by 8.1%, with an average annual decline of 2.8%. The peak was in 2019 at 13 641 tonnes, which also saw the largest increase of 3.8%.

From 2018 to 2021, Russia, Latvia, and Estonia were the top buyers of plastic tubes, pipes, hoses, and their fittings from Lithuania. Russia accounted for 25.0% of exports in volume, Latvia for 19.5%, and Estonia for 15.6%, together making up 60.1% of total exports.
