In 2021, the adoption of the Ports (Security) Regulations introduced stricter controls on maritime logistics, likely increasing costs and delays for agricultural imports. The market recovered strongly in 2022, however, as surging consumer demand for organic and frozen fruit and vegetable products—with sales rising at least 80% from the previous year—stimulated higher imports of nuts.
