In 2018, the introduction of the Use of Pesticides Act and the launch of the Smart Agriculture project aimed at sustainable farming laid the groundwork for market expansion.

The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted logistics and supply chains in 2020, reducing the market volume to 12 724 t. Logistical difficulties persisted into 2021, leading to a further decline to 11 432 t, despite rising consumer demand for organic and frozen fruits. However, in 2022, government subsidies on food products and price control measures helped stimulate imports, pushing the market volume up to 13 409 t, even as inflation from the Russia-Ukraine war and weather conditions put pressure on prices.

In 2023, the citrus fruit market volume sharply contracted to 6 985 t, driven by a significant drop in imports.
