The market volume for quinces in Iraq showed significant volatility from 2018 to 2023. It began the period at 3 500 t, then contracted over two consecutive years to 2 744 t in 2020. A sharp rebound followed in 2021, lifting the total to a peak of 3 579 t, before a gradual decline set in through 2023.

The 2021 peak was primarily the result of a surge in imports, which more than doubled to 1 829 t that year. In contrast, the preceding downturn coincided with a steep fall in imported volumes, while domestic production levels also fluctuated, adding to the market's instability.

By the end of the period in 2023, the market had settled at 3 070 t. This was underpinned by a continued decrease in imports to 1 301 t, partially offset by a modest recovery in domestic output to 1 769 t, leaving the overall market size below its initial 2018 level.
