The poultry meat market in Uzbekistan showed significant growth from 206.8 thousand tons in 2018 to 411.8 thousand tons in 2023. Early in the period, the market saw new players entering key regions like Tashkent and the Fergana Valley, which intensified competition. A temporary contraction to 233.8 thousand tons in 2020 occurred alongside increased imports of beef, creating additional competition within the broader meat market.

Market expansion continued through 2023, supported by a diversification of import sources. In 2022, poultry meat imports grew and were supplied from 14 different countries, broadening the available supply and contributing to the overall market volume growth.

In 2024, major regulatory changes were enacted to develop the domestic industry. All restrictions on poultry meat exports were lifted starting July 1, and the preferential customs duty on imports was abolished from October 1. These measures, combined with plans to establish new large-scale production facilities and introduce modern genetic technologies, aimed at strengthening the sector and were reflected in a sharp increase in exports to 14.2 thousand tons.

Uzbekistan's poultry meat and offal production experienced a two-year rise before declining. In 2020, production reached 202.8 thousand tons, representing an 11.7% decrease from the previous year. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, production grew by 35.6%, which translates to an annualized growth rate of 10.7%. The peak production was recorded in 2019 at 229.8 thousand tons, with the largest annual increase occurring in 2018 at 29.5%.

The market showed significant fluctuations during this period. Exports reached their lowest point in 2017 and peaked in 2019, with a 7.6-fold difference between these years. In 2020, Uzbekistan's poultry meat and offal exports totaled 29 tons, marking an 83.7% decline compared to the previous year. The highest export volume was recorded in 2019 at 176 tons, while the largest annual increase occurred in 2018 at 437.3%.

From 2017 to 2020, Afghanistan, Vietnam, and Tajikistan were the main destinations for Uzbekistan's poultry meat and offal exports in kind. Afghanistan accounted for 31.3% of exports, Vietnam for 29.0%, and Tajikistan for 27.0%. Together, these three countries absorbed 87.3% of total exports, solidifying their position as the primary markets.

The market exhibited considerable volatility during these years. Exports hit their lowest point in 2017 and peaked in 2019, with a 217-fold increase between these two years. In 2020, the value of Uzbekistan's poultry meat and offal exports stood at 50 thousand US dollars, reflecting a 76.7% decrease year-over-year. The maximum value was recorded in 2019 at 214 thousand US dollars, while the largest annual increase occurred in 2018 at 3,943.9%.

Between 2017 and 2020, Afghanistan and Tajikistan dominated Uzbekistan's poultry meat and offal exports in value terms.
