Earlier Report Observations

Between 2018 and 2020, the poultry meat market in Croatia experienced fluctuations in volume, reaching 69 139 t in 2019 before declining to 63 953 t in 2020. The market value dropped to $188.9 million in 2020.

In 2021, the introduction of the 'Meso hrvatskih farmi' label for domestic poultry strengthened consumer confidence and supported local consumption. The following year, increased poultry imports into the EU affected raw material prices and availability in Croatia, while new EU regulations on food composition and shelf-life labeling enhanced transparency.

From 2023, investments by major retail chains like Konzum in supply chain modernization boosted market competitiveness and attracted new suppliers. In 2024, the state-owned company Končar opened a new poultry processing plant, and the BGW group expanded its capacity in Ivanec, increasing domestic production. Rising poultry prices, influenced by inflation and global supply chain disruptions, contributed to market value growth, reaching $322.8 million in 2024.
