The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 dampened worldwide consumption of fresh fruit, leading to a decline in the Kazakh market to 42 197 t. Over the next three years, the market continued to contract, reaching 21 256 t in 2023, alongside a steady decrease in import volumes.

In 2024, imports of peaches and nectarines surged to 36 937 t, reflecting renewed demand and the impact of new mandatory labeling requirements for food products, introduced in September 2024, which altered packaging and compliance standards for fresh fruit.

Following a two-year upward trend, Kazakhstan's import value for peaches and nectarines fell. In 2020, imports amounted to 30 114 thousand US dollars, reflecting a sharp year-on-year decrease of 33.6%. Between 2017 and 2020, import value rose by 13.3%, with an average annual rate of 4.3%.
