Earlier Report Observations

The Vietnamese orange juice market expanded from 30.1 million liters in 2018 to 55.5 million liters by 2023. This growth was initially driven by major beverage brands like Coca-Cola diversifying their portfolios with juice products to capture local demand, alongside a rising consumer trend favoring natural, low-sugar beverages. The health and wellness preference intensified, leading Vietnamese producers to invest in R&D for tailored recipes, which supported consumption. The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 spurred product innovation and marketing adaptations, helping the market continue its expansion despite disruptions.

Market growth accelerated sharply in 2021, fueled by sustained demand for green, clean, and organic drink options. In 2022, the adoption of aseptic filling technology improved product quality and environmental footprint, while rising incomes and urbanization further boosted soft drink demand. By 2023, the market nearly stabilized as the Russia-Ukraine conflict increased costs for key inputs like sugar and PET plastic, squeezing production margins. Nevertheless, over 65% of Vietnamese consumers remained willing to pay more for healthier beverages, underpinning steady market volume.
