Earlier Report Observations

The Russian orange juice market volume grew from 41 362 тыс. л in 2018 to 59 896 тыс. л in 2021. This expansion was initially supported by positive production trends and consumer confidence bolstered by quality studies showing 90% compliance with standards. The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 further stimulated demand for citrus products, contributing to a 15.6% market increase that year.

A sharp contraction followed in 2022, with the market volume plummeting to 30 091 тыс. л due to sanctions, logistical disruptions, and rising retail prices that reduced sales. The crisis prompted appeals for state support and threatened shortages. Recovery began in 2023 as the market rebounded to 48 999 тыс. л, aided by new juice production facilities opening in the Rostov region and industry adaptation to upcoming labeling rules.

By 2024, the market stabilized at 47 762 тыс. л, influenced by the phased implementation of mandatory beverage labeling and ongoing competitive pressures from other juice segments. Domestic production, however, declined to 34 561 тыс. л in 2025, reflecting persistent challenges related to raw material access and cost volatility.
