Earlier Report Observations

The orange juice market in Eastern Asia experienced a notable contraction in volume from 2018 to 2020, with market size falling from 201.1 million liters to 164.5 million liters. This was followed by a sustained recovery phase, with consumption rising to 176.8 million liters in 2021 and reaching 201.1 million liters in 2022, matching the 2018 level. The market's expansion continued strongly into 2023.

Market volume grew to 225.6 million liters in 2023, primarily fueled by rapidly growing consumer demand for healthier and natural products, particularly for not-from-concentrate (NFC) orange juice. This shift in preference spurred product diversification and quality improvements. Simultaneously, the industry's production capacity increased, with more juice processing enterprises establishing operations near key orange-growing regions, leading to a more robust and efficient supply chain.

In value terms, the market demonstrated an even more pronounced upswing, reaching 457.7 million US dollars in 2023. This significant increase, outpacing volume growth, indicates a market shift towards higher-value products and reflects the impact of rising quality standards and potentially higher input costs within the supply chain.
