This shift transformed Azerbaijan from a net importer to a significant exporter, with net trade reducing the supply available for the domestic market. Despite the rise in exports, the strong growth in production was more than sufficient to expand the overall market volume.

In value terms, the market reached its peak at 36.1 million USD in 2022 before declining to 30.5 million USD in 2023. This decrease in market value occurred alongside the physical volume growth, indicating a notable drop in average prices. Preliminary foreign trade data for 2024 and 2025 shows volatile import levels of 12 305 tons and 7 310 tons, respectively, while exports remained significant at 2 343 tons and 3 492 tons, suggesting the export trend is continuing.
