Azerbaijan's fig production grew for the third consecutive year. In 2021, the country produced 12 620 tons of figs, marking a 2.9% increase from the previous year. Over the 2018-2021 period, production rose by 12.5%, with an average annual growth rate of 4.0%.

Exports figs from Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan exported 0.7 tons of figs in 2021, representing a 55.4% decline from the previous year. Between 2019 and 2021, exports fell by 45.1%, which translates to an annualized decrease of 18.1%. The highest export volume was recorded in 2020 at 1.5 tons, with the largest year-on-year increase of 23.2% also occurring in 2020.

Between 2018 and 2021, Russia, Qatar, and Canada were the key export partners in value terms, accounting for 24.9%, 8.4%, and 1.5% of total exports, respectively. Together, these three countries made up 34.8% of Azerbaijan's total fig export value.

After a two-year decline, Azerbaijan's fig imports rebounded. In 2021, import volume reached 89.5 tons, a sharp increase of 64.6% from the previous year. However, over the 2018-2021 period, imports decreased by 21.7%, with an average annual decline of 7.8%. The lowest import volume was recorded in 2020 at 54.4 tons, which also saw the largest year-on-year drop of 37.2%.
