The Armenian fruit and vegetable juices market experienced significant volume fluctuations between 2018 and 2023. After reaching a peak of 11.0 million liters in 2019, the market contracted sharply to 7.4 million liters in 2020, then stabilized around 7.2 million liters in 2021. A steady recovery followed, with the market volume climbing to 8.0 million liters in 2022 and further to 9.7 million liters in 2023.

Domestic production played a key role in these shifts. Output rose by 19% to 8.4 million liters in 2021, driven by the Artfood cannery's investment of €2.2 million in a new juice production line based on its own concentrates. This expansion increased the product range from 14 to 18 juice varieties, supported by government policies favoring agricultural processing. However, production declined in the subsequent years, falling to 8.1 million liters in 2022 and 7.8 million liters in 2023.

Trade flows also heavily influenced market volume. Exports surged from 1.9 million liters in 2019 to 4.7 million liters in 2020, remaining above 5.0 million liters thereafter, which reduced domestic availability. Imports, after dropping to 4.4 million liters in 2021, rebounded strongly to 7.0 million liters in 2023, supporting the market's recovery in that year.

In 2019, Armenia's production of fruit and vegetable juices reached its lowest point at 7 064 thousand liters. The following year, in 2020, production remained broadly stable at 7 067 thousand liters, showing minimal year-over-year change. Over the four-year period from 2017 to 2020, production declined by 38.5%, with an average annual decrease of 15.0%. The most significant drop occurred in 2018, when production fell by 37.3%.

Armenia's exports of fruit and vegetable juices showed noticeable fluctuations during the period. In 2017, export volumes reached their lowest point, while in 2020 they peaked at 4 697 thousand liters, representing a sharp increase of 141.8% compared to the previous year. Overall, export levels varied by 3.1 times between these high and low points. The largest decline was recorded in 2019, when exports fell by 8.2%.

From 2017 to 2020, Russia dominated Armenia's fruit and vegetable juice exports in volume terms, accounting for 79.5% of total flows. The remaining exports were distributed among a fragmented group of other markets.

In 2020, Armenia's fruit and vegetable juice exports reached 2 613 thousand US dollars, marking a 24.9% increase compared to the previous year. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, exports grew by 47.6%, with an average annual growth rate of 13.9%. The largest decline occurred in 2019, when exports fell by 7.2%, while the most significant increase was recorded in 2018, with a 27.4% rise.

From 2017 to 2020, Russia, Kazakhstan, and the United States formed the key group of partners for Armenia's fruit and vegetable juice exports in value terms. Russia accounted for 69.3% of export value, Kazakhstan for 6.4%, and the United States for 5.1%. Together, these three markets represented 80.7% of total export flows.

Imports fruit and vegetable juices to Armenia

After two years of growth, Armenia's imports of fruit and vegetable juices declined. In 2019, imports reached their peak at 5 830 thousand liters, representing a 24.6% increase from the previous year. However, in 2020, imports fell to 5 065 thousand liters, a significant decline of 13.1% year-over-year. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, imports increased by 18.7%, with an average annual growth rate of 5.9%.

From 2017 to 2020, Russia, Ukraine, and Israel led the structure of Armenia's fruit and vegetable juice imports in volume terms. Russia accounted for 63.2% of imports, Ukraine for 7.5%, and Israel for 6.4%. Together, these three countries represented 77.2% of total import flows.

After two years of improvement, Armenia's fruit and vegetable juice imports declined. In 2019, imports reached their highest value at 4 828 thousand US dollars, but in 2020 they fell to 4 381 thousand US dollars, a 9.3% decrease year-over-year. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, imports increased by 37.1%, equating to an average annual growth rate of 11.1%. The largest increase was recorded in 2018, with a 37.1% rise.

From 2017 to 2020, Russia, Israel, and India stood out as the main markets for Armenia's fruit and vegetable juice imports in value terms. Russia accounted for 44.7% of import value, Israel for 14.5%, and India for 6.8%. Together, these three countries represented 66.0% of total import flows.
