Under the 2008 law regulating grape-based alcoholic beverages, Armenia's grape juice market experienced fluctuations between 2018 and 2023. After a slight dip in 2019, volume fell to 5.4 million liters in 2020. However, a tenfold increase in viticulture investment from 2016 to 2020 laid the groundwork for recovery, and in 2021, boosted wine exports and improved market conditions pushed production to 6.1 million liters, lifting market volume to 6.1 million liters.

The momentum reversed in 2022 and 2023, with market volume dropping to 5.8 million and then 5.5 million liters. During this period, Armenia ratified a free trade agreement with Iran and actively attracted foreign companies, including German investors, to its wine sector, but these developments did not sustain growth. Overall, the market contracted from 5.8 million liters in 2018 to 5.5 million liters in 2023.

In 2020, Armenia produced 5 288 thousand liters of grape juice, marking a 7.3% decrease from the previous year. Over the 2017-2020 period, production fell by 33.4%, with a compound annual growth rate of -12.7%. The most significant drop occurred in 2018, at 29.0%, while the largest increase was a modest 1.2% in 2019.

After two years of decline, Armenia's grape juice imports from abroad rebounded. In 2020, imports reached 117.6 thousand liters, a 69.4% increase from the year before. Between 2017 and 2020, overall imports decreased by 54.1%, translating to an annualized decline of 22.9%. The lowest volume was recorded in 2019 at 69.4 thousand liters, with the largest drop that year at 67.3%.

From 2017 to 2020, Italy, Iran, and Uzbekistan led Armenia's grape juice imports in volume, with shares of 56.6%, 14.5%, and 12.4%, respectively. Together, these three countries represented 83.5% of total imports.
