Figs production in the CIS has grown for the third year in a row. In 2020, the region produced 45 500 tons of figs, marking a 15.7% increase compared to the previous year. From 2017 to 2020, production rose by 44%, which translates to an average annual growth rate of 12.9%.

Figs shipments from the CIS to abroad have grown for the third consecutive year. The volume of figs imports into the CIS has increased for the third year in a row. In 2020, imports totaled 8 451 tons, up 12.0% from the prior year. Between 2017 and 2020, imports grew by 34.1%, with a compound annual growth rate of 10.3%.

From 2017 to 2020, Turkey, Georgia, and Iran were consistently the main sources for figs imports into the CIS in volume terms, with shares of 58.6%, 6.2%, and 1.0%, respectively, together making up 65.8% of total imports.

After two years of growth, figs import volumes into the CIS declined. In 2020, import value amounted to 20.112 million US dollars, showing a slight drop of 1.1% year-over-year. From 2017 to 2020, imports increased by 57%, with a compound annual growth rate of 16.2%. The highest value was recorded in 2019 at 20.332 million US dollars, which also saw the largest increase of 36.4%.
