Earlier Report Observations

From 2018 to 2022, cassava production in Guinea expanded consistently from 1.9 million tons to nearly 3 million tons. This growth was primarily driven by the AgriFARM project, launched in late 2018 with funding from international development partners. The project aimed to sustainably increase incomes for 78,000 family farms, improve their resilience to external shocks, and enhance access to local and regional markets across 15 prefectures, directly boosting agricultural output.

Production stabilized at 3 million tons in 2023. That year, the government received 1,000 agricultural machines, including tractors and tillers, distributed to farmers as part of the presidential Green Refoundation initiative to revive agriculture and reduce post-harvest losses. Additionally, the official launch of a price benchmarking tool for public procurement helped regulate agricultural market prices, supporting stable production levels.
