Sweet potato production in Guinea showed consistent growth from 2018 to 2022, rising from 265.3 thousand tons to 384.1 thousand tons. This expansion was driven by major agricultural development projects, starting with the launch of the AgriFARM initiative in late 2018, which aimed to strengthen family farms, improve climate resilience, and facilitate market access. The growth continued with the start of the World Bank-funded PDACG project in 2021, focusing on developing commercial agriculture and value chains for crops like sweet potatoes.

Production stabilized at 376.2 thousand tons in 2023. During this period, the government signed protocols to guarantee market supply and price stability for essential goods, which supported the commercialization of tubers. Furthermore, increased emphasis on agricultural research, including visits to the IRAG research center to improve cultivation techniques and develop climate-adapted varieties, aimed at enhancing long-term productivity and sustainability in the sector.

Guinea's sweet potato production volume increased for the third consecutive year. In 2020, the country produced 322.1 thousand tons of sweet potatoes, which represents an 11.2% increase compared to the previous year. Over the 2017-2020 period, production grew by 25.9%, with an average annual growth rate of 8.0%.
