Earlier Report Observations

The apricot market in Ukraine underwent a significant contraction from 2018 to 2023, with total market volume decreasing from 113.6 thousand tons to 50.1 thousand tons. This represented a loss of over 50% in available supply within six years.

This downturn was primarily driven by a steep and sustained drop in domestic apricot production, which fell from 111.7 thousand tons to 40.8 thousand tons. While imports increased from 2.1 thousand tons to 9.3 thousand tons over the period, the growth in foreign supply was far too small to offset the large-scale reduction in local output.

With export volumes remaining minimal, the overall market size consistently mirrored the declining trajectory of domestic production, leading to a substantially smaller market by 2023.
