The Tunisian wine market expanded from 32.5 thousand tons in 2018 to 38.6 thousand tons in 2019. This growth was supported by vineyard restructuring and equipment modernization, which improved production efficiency and quality. The launch of the cross-border Iter Vitis Magon wine route and international recognition, including featuring among the world's best wines by Newsweek, further stimulated export prospects and domestic demand.

Market volume then contracted to 29.3 thousand tons by 2021. High consumption taxes and a complete ban on alcohol advertising constrained market development, while heatwaves and drought related to climate change adversely affected grape harvests and wine production.

Recovery began in 2022, with the market reaching 35.9 thousand tons in 2023. Marketing efforts targeting a growing female clientele, the development of new segments such as sparkling and effervescent wines, and initiatives to promote wine tourism contributed to renewed demand and market expansion.

Tunisia's wine and wine products production saw a two-year increase before declining. In 2019, production reached its peak at 37 000 tonnes, marking the largest annual increase of 15.6%. However, in 2020, production fell to 31 000 tonnes, representing a significant drop of 16.2% compared to the previous year.

Tunisia's wine and wine products exports in value terms increased for two years before declining. In 2019, exports peaked at 19 316 thousand US dollars, with the largest annual increase of 9.7%. However, in 2020, exports dropped to 10 272 thousand US dollars, a decrease of 46.8% year-over-year. Over the 2017-2020 period, exports fell by 39.5%, with a compound annual growth rate of -15.4%.

In 2020, imports fell to 1 249 tonnes, a sharp decline of 56.8% from the previous year. Over the 2017-2020 period, imports decreased by 39.4%, with a compound annual growth rate of -15.4%.
