Earlier Report Observations
Production of wheat bran in Russia increased from 4 046 thousand tons in 2018 to 4 322 thousand tons in 2022, supported by state policy promoting agricultural waste utilization and large wheat harvests that provided raw material for deeper processing. Domestic market volume peaked at 3 449 thousand tons in 2020 before contracting to 2 883 thousand tons in 2023.
The contraction in domestic market volume was driven by a rapid expansion of exports, which rose from 815 thousand tons in 2018 to 1 404 thousand tons in 2023. This export growth was facilitated by active regulatory work to open new markets, including China and Turkey, while export quotas for mineral fertilizers introduced in late 2021 indirectly influenced agricultural production and the supply of bran.
