Changes in overall market size were largely tied to import volumes, as domestic production remained relatively stable between 2 000 and 2 150 thousand tonnes annually. Imports rose from 1 333 thousand tonnes in 2018 to a high of 1 580 thousand tonnes in 2020, then contracted to 1 372 thousand tonnes by 2023.

In 2024, import volume surged to 1 823 thousand tonnes. This increase was supported by strong demand from the animal feed sector, where bran is favored for its high protein and amino acid content.
