The market volume for unroasted, not decaffeinated coffee in Mozambique declined from 868.1 t in 2018 to 807.8 t in 2019, driven primarily by a sharp contraction in imports. Domestic production remained steady near 790–798 t, cushioning the overall market size. A gradual recovery followed, with the market reaching 838.2 t by 2022 as imports increased and production edged upward.

In 2023, the market volume eased to 825.9 t, as imports fell to 31.8 t from 43.9 t the previous year, while production reached a high of 803.2 t. Globally, Brazil’s position as the leading coffee producer continued to shape world supply and price trends, though Mozambique’s local market showed a slight contraction that year.

For 2024, import volumes dropped further to 21.7 t and exports declined to 6.1 t. While no country-specific factors were reported, global influences such as severe drought in Brazil—which tightened worldwide supply and raised prices—likely contributed to reduced import activity in Mozambique.
