The market volume for turkey meat and offal in Czechia grew from 20 052 t in 2018 to 22 730 t in 2023, despite annual fluctuations. Domestic production rose steadily, supported by a 3.4% increase in overall poultry meat output in 2018, which helped expand the supply of turkey.

Market volume dipped in 2019, then saw strong growth in 2020 and 2021, a decline in 2022, and a rebound in 2023. These shifts were largely driven by varying import levels, while demand was consistently underpinned by a consumer trend favoring turkey meat as a lean, protein-rich healthy alternative.

The market is shaped by major domestic players like ZOD Brniště, the largest turkey breeder and processor in the country, which ensures stable supply and quality. Imports from Ukraine and Hungary also play a key role in meeting domestic consumption needs.

Czechia's turkey meat and offal production increased for the second year in a row. In 2020, the country produced 1 560 tonnes, marking a 13.9% rise from the previous year. Looking at the period from 2017 to 2020, overall production fell by 10.1%, with an average annual decline of 3.5%. The lowest output was recorded in 2018 at 1 290 tonnes, which also saw the sharpest drop of 25.7%.

After two years of decline, Czechia's turkey meat and offal production rebounded in value terms. In 2020, the output was valued at 5 680 thousand US dollars, a significant increase of 29.7% compared to 2019. Over the 2017-2020 period, production value grew by 19.6%, averaging 6.1% per year. The lowest value occurred in 2019 at 4 381 thousand US dollars, while the largest decrease was in 2018 at 6.9%.

Following two years of decline, Czechia's turkey meat and offal exports saw a modest recovery. In 2020, exports reached 496 tonnes, up 3.2% from 2019. However, over the 2017-2020 span, exports dropped by 46.5%, with an average annual decline of 18.8%. The lowest volume was in 2019 at 480 tonnes, which also experienced the steepest fall of 47.8%.

From 2017 to 2020, Slovakia and Austria consistently dominated Czechia's turkey meat and offal exports, accounting for 85.4% of the total volume. This high concentration highlights a market structure with a few major partners and numerous smaller ones.

In 2020, Czechia's turkey meat and offal exports in value terms totalled 1 805 thousand US dollars, a 17.5% increase from the previous year. Despite this uptick, exports decreased by 28.8% over the 2017-2020 period, averaging a 10.7% annual decline. The lowest value was in 2019 at 1 536 thousand US dollars, while the peak was in 2018 at 3 154 thousand US dollars. The largest drop occurred in 2019 at 51.3%, and the biggest rise was in 2018 at 24.5%.

From 2017 to 2020, Poland was the primary supplier of turkey meat and offal to Czechia, accounting for 73.5% of total imports by volume. The remaining imports came from a variety of other countries with smaller shares.

Czechia's imports of turkey meat and offal in value terms declined for the second consecutive year. In 2020, imports totalled 59 898 thousand US dollars, a slight decrease of 2.9% from 2019. Over the 2017-2020 period, however, imports increased by 8.3%, averaging 2.7% per year. The highest value was in 2018 at 65 137 thousand US dollars, with the largest drop in 2019 at 5.3% and the biggest rise in 2018 at 17.8%.
