The market volume started at 21,100 tons in 2018, supported by ongoing agricultural reforms including the gradual abolition of state price controls and the introduction of state intervention purchases for grain. However, in 2019, the market contracted to 14,775 tons. Recovery followed in 2020, with the market reaching 20,831 tons, driven by state investments in seed development and the introduction of new sorghum varieties adapted to local conditions, which boosted yields.

The market continued to grow in 2021, peaking at 22,015 tons, as efforts in seed development expanded with hybrid varieties and government-backed farming activities remained strong. A sharp decline occurred in 2022, bringing the market down to 16,614 tons. By 2023, a modest recovery to 17,284 tons was observed, coinciding with overall grain production exceeding 8 million tons and the promotion of sorghum as a fodder crop through state programs supporting livestock farming.
