Paddy rice production in Uzbekistan rose from 221.1 thousand tonnes in 2018 to 359.1 thousand tonnes in 2022, despite a temporary drop in 2020 due to COVID-19 logistics disruptions. This overall growth was driven by state-backed cultivation on over 100 thousand hectares and the adoption of high-yield adapted varieties. The introduction of advanced planting technologies, including seedling transplanting machines from South Korea's Tong Yang Moolsan, further boosted productivity.

After peaking in 2022, output stabilized at 355.7 thousand tonnes in 2023 as water scarcity prompted planned area reductions in regions like Karakalpakstan. Ongoing government measures, including a rice development plan through 2030 and preferential lending from September 2024, aim to enhance water-efficient practices and maintain production levels.

In 2020, Uzbekistan produced 293.5 thousand tons of paddy rice, marking a 6.7% decrease from the previous year.
