The Uzbek maize market began its growth trajectory in 2018 when the government introduced market-based pricing for state grain purchases from June, which likely incentivized production. Although import volumes surged the following year, contributing to market expansion, domestic output continued to rise steadily through 2020 supported by ongoing agricultural development programs.

A significant boost came in 2021 with the entry of new processing: Healing Herbs launched natural juice production using maize, creating fresh demand for the crop. This trend was reinforced by continued Chinese investment into Uzbekistan's agrarian sector and the subsequent export of these corn-based juices to the Russian market in 2022. These drivers helped propel domestic production to over 781 thousand tons by 2023, sustaining overall market growth even as imports fluctuated.

Uzbekistan's maize production has grown for the third year in a row. In 2020, the country produced 475.3 thousand tons of maize, marking a 12.8% increase from the previous year.
