In value terms, growth was more consistent, rising from $1.05 billion to $1.72 billion over the same period, with a notable surge between 2021 and 2022.

Domestic production increased steadily from 743 thousand tonnes to 982 thousand tonnes, supporting market supply. However, import volumes, which constituted a major share of the market, fluctuated sharply, peaking at 1.69 million tonnes in 2022 then dropping to 1.3 million tonnes in 2023. This import volatility was the primary driver of the overall market volume movements.

The market value remained stable at $1.72 billion in 2023 despite the 14% volume decline, suggesting changes in pricing or product composition. Exports played a minor role, never exceeding 31 thousand tonnes.
