Following two consecutive years of decline, rapeseed oilcake production in South-eastern Asia rebounded. In 2020, production reached 26 500 tonnes, marking a significant 41.0% increase compared to the previous year. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, production grew by 25%, which translates to an average annual growth rate of 7.7%. The lowest production level was recorded in 2019 at 18 800 tonnes, while the sharpest decline occurred that same year, with a drop of 10.5%.

After experiencing a two-year decline, rapeseed oilcake exports from South-eastern Asia showed signs of recovery. In 2020, exports amounted to 5.6 thousand tonnes, representing a solid 11.4% increase from 2019. However, looking at the broader period from 2017 to 2020, exports decreased by 21.3%, averaging an annual decline of 7.7%. The lowest export volume was recorded in 2019 at 5.1 thousand tonnes, with the most significant drop occurring in 2018, when exports fell by 24.5%.

From 2017 to 2020, Japan, South Korea, and Asia (not elsewhere specified) consistently held the top positions in the export structure by volume. Japan accounted for 15.1% of exports, South Korea for 8.1%, and Asia (not elsewhere specified) for 0.6%. Together, these three destinations represented 23.8% of total export flows during this period.

The highest import volume was recorded in 2019 at 800.1 thousand tonnes, with the most significant increase occurring in 2018, when imports rose by 10.8%.

Between 2017 and 2020, the United Arab Emirates, India, and Pakistan were the primary destinations for rapeseed oilcake imports by volume.
