Earlier Report Observations
From 2018, state-owned companies and large agro-holdings actively supported quince production and export, laying a foundation for growth. The following year, the entry of new regional producers intensified competition and continued to stimulate production capacity. The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 caused logistics disruptions, but enhanced state support measures for the agricultural sector and a shift in consumer preferences toward fresh and environmentally friendly products helped stabilize the market.
The recovery of supply chains after the pandemic in 2021 facilitated a significant rise in imports, while the introduction of new quince varieties targeted at the domestic market and ongoing state agricultural development programs boosted production. As a result, market volume increased by over 2 000 t. In 2022, despite tightened export restrictions and sanctions, investments in agrotechnologies and expansion of production facilities, along with growing consumer interest in local products, supported production and market volume.
In 2023, the continued impact of sanctions and trade restrictions, coupled with a policy shift toward import substitution, shaped the market. The emergence of new segments such as organic quinces added diversity. However, production fell to 7 815 t and market volume declined to 15 145 t.
