In 2018 and 2019, the orange market volume in Cyprus grew, reaching 15 thousand tons. This increase was driven by an 8.8% rise in agricultural production, supported by legislative changes in tax laws and the activity of state bodies assisting farmers. The enhanced protection of local orange varieties also contributed to strengthening production and market presence.

After a sharp drop to 11.5 thousand tons in 2020, market volume recovered to 12.9 thousand tons in 2021 and to 14.8 thousand tons in 2022. Ongoing state support through sustainable agriculture programs helped stabilize the sector. In 2022, legislative changes aimed at facilitating agricultural development and the entry of new players stimulated production growth, despite global increases in energy and raw material prices.

In 2023, market volume decreased to 11.5 thousand tons, even as demand for local Cypriot oranges increased as part of self-sufficiency efforts. In 2024, international trends of rising raw material and energy prices continued to affect production and distribution costs, while state and private initiatives supported local production.

In 2020, Cyprus produced 18 290 tonnes of oranges, representing a modest decline of 7.0% compared to the previous year. Over the 2017-2020 period, production fell by 9.3%, with a compound annual growth rate of -3.2%. The lowest production level was recorded in 2018 at 17 840 tonnes, which saw the largest year-on-year decrease of 11.6%. In contrast, 2019 experienced the most significant increase at 10.3%.

Cyprus's orange exports grew for the second consecutive year in 2020, reaching 7 244 tonnes—a substantial increase of 46.8% compared to 2019. Over the 2017-2020 period, exports rose by 47.2%, with a compound annual growth rate of 13.8%. The lowest export volume was recorded in 2018 at 3 855 tonnes, which also saw the largest decline of 21.6%.

From 2017 to 2020, the United Kingdom, Italy, and Sweden formed the core of Cyprus's orange exports by volume. The United Kingdom accounted for 41.1% of exports, Italy for 19.3%, and Sweden for 14.6%. Together, these three countries represented 75.0% of total export flows.
