Earlier Report Observations

From 2018 to 2019, the orange market in ASEAN expanded from 4,273 thousand tons to 4,467 thousand tons. This increase aligned with a global rise in demand for fresh oranges and orange juice, particularly in Brazil where domestic consumption grew due to household and regional demand for fresh juice. Favorable climatic conditions and high production capacity also supported worldwide output.

Market growth continued steadily through 2023, reaching 5,601 thousand tons. The period saw consistent annual increases in market volume, reflecting sustained demand within the region.

By 2024, global market dynamics included the launch of the new 'Onix' orange variety in Spain, targeted at cocktail blends, and a major marketing campaign in Florida to promote the health benefits of fresh orange juice. A broader consumer shift toward organic and sustainable products, alongside logistics improvements for citrus exports in countries like Brazil and Egypt, further shaped the international orange trade.
