From 2018 to 2023, the melon market in Cyprus contracted sharply, with total volume falling by 43% from 9 069 t to 5 143 t. The decline was persistent, though its intensity varied, with the largest single-year drop of 14% recorded in 2022.

Domestic production, which constitutes the overwhelming share of supply, paralleled this trend, decreasing from 8 950 t to 4 970 t over the period. Imports, while remaining a small fraction of the market, increased notably in the final year, reaching 173 t in 2023.
