The market for not roasted and not cooked groundnuts in the Central African Republic began a period of expansion in 2018, with production that year at 363.3 thousand tonnes. This initial volume coincided with the state's priority on immediate industrialization of natural resources and the launch of small hydropower projects aimed at improving energy access, a key factor for processing and preserving agricultural products like groundnuts. Production saw a modest rise to 377.8 thousand tonnes in 2019, followed by a sharp surge to 541.5 thousand tonnes in 2020, which significantly enlarged the overall market size.

Growth continued steadily through 2023, with production reaching 591.7 thousand tonnes. This sustained increase was supported by several government-led initiatives. From 2021, mobilization of financial resources to stimulate the private sector, particularly in agriculture, provided ongoing impetus. Subsequently, digitalization of domestic resources with EU support and private sector sensitization on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) instruments in 2022 improved commercialization and market access pathways. Further momentum came in 2023 from organized donor roundtables seeking to mobilize Islamic and Arab fund financing for public and private projects, including in agriculture.
