From 2018 to 2020, the Tunisian non-vegetable wax market expanded steadily, with volume rising from 217.8 thousand tons to 253.7 thousand tons. This growth was supported by increasing imports, which reached 187.4 thousand tons in 2020.

The market contracted sharply in 2021 to 147.0 thousand tons, driven by a significant drop in imports. During this period, local demand for raw materials used in candle manufacturing—including beeswax and other waxes—highlighted ongoing domestic production activity despite the overall market decline. Volume fell further to 123.9 thousand tons in 2022 before recovering to 150.1 thousand tons in 2023.

In 2024, regulatory changes such as the updated list of approved pesticides in May could indirectly affect beeswax quality. Local producers, including Société Ruche Oueslat, remained active, while imports were recorded at 26.6 thousand tons.
