The Tunisian linseed oil market expanded from 1 013 t in 2018 to 1 202 t in 2023, with production rising from 854 t to 1 094 t over the same period. Market volume peaked at 1 248 t in 2019 before contracting in 2020 to 1 099 t.

Recovery began in 2021, aided by the resumption of government-subsidized vegetable oil distribution, which bolstered demand. Production reached 1 140 t in 2022, then eased to 1 094 t in 2023 as market volume settled at 1 202 t.

In 2020, the output was valued at 1 623 thousand US dollars, marking a 12.0% increase compared to the previous year. The lowest value was recorded in 2018 at 1 093 thousand US dollars, which represented an 18.9% decline from the preceding year. The strongest growth occurred in 2019, with a 32.7% increase in production value.

Tunisia's exports of linseed oil and fractions declined for the second year in a row. In 2020, the country exported 5.4 tonnes, which was 26.7% lower than in 2019. Over the 2017-2020 period, exports decreased by 6.6%, equivalent to an average annual decline of 2.3%. The highest export volume was recorded in 2018 at 8.5 tonnes, which represented a 47.8% increase from the previous year.

Between 2017 and 2020, Mauritania, Libya, and Burkina Faso were the main destinations for Tunisia's linseed oil and fractions exports in volume terms. Mauritania accounted for 36.3% of exports, Libya for 33.1%, and Burkina Faso for 10.8%. Together, these three countries represented 80.2% of Tunisia's total export flows during this period.
