Earlier Report Observations

The Tunisian MDF market volume fluctuated between 2018 and 2023. Starting at 300.9 thousand m³ in 2018, it dipped to 276.8 thousand m³ in 2019 before recovering to 288.1 thousand m³ in 2020. Growth continued in 2021, reaching 310.8 thousand m³, and stabilized near 316 thousand m³ in 2022. However, 2023 saw a sharp contraction to 246.1 thousand m³.

In 2024, MDF imports fell to 119.3 thousand m³, down from 174.1 thousand m³ the previous year. This decline was influenced by the implementation of higher customs duties on certain goods of Turkish origin from 2024, which made imported MDF more expensive. Additionally, rising costs for raw materials and maritime transport increased prices for MDF panels and furniture, dampening consumer demand.
