This stability occurred alongside a well-established wood processing industry, which comprised around 137 enterprises with ten or more employees in 2018 and expanded to 180 active industrial companies employing 25,000 people by 2021. The broader wood and furniture sector reported strong growth during this period, with exports reaching 777 million dinars in 2022 and an average annual expansion of 13% over the previous five years.

In 2023, production fell sharply to 2 109 thousand cubic meters, marking a reduction in market volume of nearly 30% compared to the prior year.
