Local producers began manufacturing wood heating pellets, targeting both domestic and export markets, while initiatives to process olive waste into heating briquettes offered an alternative to traditional wood. Olive wood remained a widely available local resource, supporting the raw material base for the fuel sector.

Despite challenges such as a 300% increase in raw material prices by 2021 due to dinar depreciation and import dependency, the market maintained a steady volume. The establishment of specialized companies by 2022 and the export orientation of pellet producers, particularly to Italy, helped the sector adapt to economic pressures without disrupting overall market size.
