Earlier Report Observations
Brazilian liquid egg production increased consistently from 99.2 thousand tons in 2018 to 111.3 thousand tons in 2023. This growth was supported by technological advances in genetics, nutrition, and automation, as well as rising domestic consumption that reached the global average of 230 eggs per person in 2019. Higher meat prices further solidified eggs' position in the Brazilian diet. The domestic market volume expanded from 97.7 thousand tons to 105.9 thousand tons over the same period, though growth moderated after 2020 as more output was directed to exports.
Exports of liquid eggs rose markedly from 2021 onward, jumping 81.5% that year to 2.1 thousand tons. After reaching 5.4 thousand tons in 2023, exports dipped to 3.7 thousand tons in 2024 due to adverse weather and high corn prices affecting supply, but recovered to 5.4 thousand tons in 2025. This expansion was fueled by the opening of new markets such as Malaysia for liquid egg products and growing demand from the United States, Japan, and Mexico. International confidence in Brazilian egg safety increased due to the country's avian influenza-free status, and the industry reorganized to serve higher-value export segments.
The sector underwent structural shifts, including a reduction in the number of egg-producing establishments, which fell to 1,862 in 2022, indicating consolidation toward larger, more specialized operations. Demand for processed egg products like liquid eggs grew, driven by convenience trends. Adverse weather conditions and high corn prices raised production costs, pushing up domestic prices, but investments in technology and automation helped maintain production growth. The industry also saw strategic acquisitions and a focus on certifications for animal welfare, biosecurity, and professionalization.
