Earlier Report Observations

From 2018 to 2020, Brazilian dried egg production increased from 9 501 t to 10 352 t, driven by investments in processing technologies such as pasteurization and dehydration, which extended shelf life and enhanced food safety for industrial users. The domestic market volume remained stable at around 9 300 t, while exports began to rise, doubling from 456 t to 1 027 t, supported by Brazil's privileged sanitary status free from avian influenza, which boosted international confidence.

Between 2021 and 2023, production continued to grow, reaching 10 665 t in 2023, but the domestic market volume contracted to 8 318 t as exports surged to 2 354 t in 2023. This export growth was fueled by strong international demand, particularly from Japan, and was reinforced by stringent biosecurity systems at major producers like Katayama Alimentos. Adverse weather conditions in 2023, including high temperatures, temporarily reduced bird productivity and increased production costs, while domestic demand was supported by the egg's perception as a complete and affordable protein.

In 2024, exports maintained their upward trajectory, with a 69.5% increase in volume during the first two months, underscoring the sustained competitiveness of Brazilian dried eggs on the global market. The sector's foundation was strengthened by the adoption of animal welfare certifications and advanced farming practices, alongside ongoing concentration of production in larger, more technological enterprises.
