The German market for homogenised jams, jellies, marmalades, purées and pastes held steady at approximately 15 400 t in both 2018 and 2019. A sharp downturn followed, with volume plunging to 11 895 t in 2020 and hitting a low of 8 243 t in 2021. A rebound then began, lifting the market to 10 250 t in 2022 and further to 11 574 t in 2023.

This volatility was primarily driven by trade flows. Germany's position as a leading importer of these products helped sustain market volume in 2019 despite falling local production. The severe market contraction in 2020 and 2021 was directly linked to a steep drop in import volumes, which fell by over 7 000 t during those two years. The recovery from 2022 was fueled by a resurgence in imports, which rose to nearly 15 000 t by 2023, offsetting a continued decline in domestic output and steadily falling exports.

Between 2017 and 2020, Germany's export partners for these products were diverse. Austria accounted for 23.8% of exports in kind, France for 17.3%, and Switzerland for 8.1%, together making up 49.2% of total flows. The remaining 50.8% went to numerous other countries.

Germany's exports of homogenised jams, jellies, marmalades, purées, and pastes in value terms declined for the third year in a row. In 2020, exports amounted to 30 483 K $ US, a decrease of 1.2% compared to 2019. From 2017 to 2020, exports dropped by 33.3%, with an average annual fall of 12.6%.

After two years of growth, Germany's imports of homogenised jams, jellies, marmalades, purées, and pastes in volume terms declined. In 2020, imports stood at 16 953 t, a significant drop of 13.5% from 2019. Between 2017 and 2020, imports decreased by 11.5%, with an average annual decline of 4.0%. The highest volume was recorded in 2019 at 19 608 t, following the largest increase of 1.8% in 2018.
