Earlier Report Observations

The European grape juice market volume grew from 934 million l in 2018 to 955 million l in 2019. This increase was supported by a continuing consumer shift toward organic and natural products, along with rising demand for functional grape juices integrated into health beverages. Investments in more efficient and sustainable production technologies also strengthened the industry's foundation during this period.

Supply chain disruptions and increased production costs caused by the COVID-19 pandemic led to a market contraction to 771 million l in 2020. The decline continued in 2021, with volume falling to 521 million l, a year that also saw the industry adopt new technologies like thermovinification to improve juice quality. A slight recovery to 530 million l occurred in 2022 as the market consolidated around organic and functional segments with more innovative product launches. In 2023, adverse weather conditions and drought significantly reduced table grape production in Europe, leading to a further market decline to 372 million l.
