The goat meat market in Armenia showed a pattern of stability followed by a peak and subsequent decline between 2018 and 2023. Overall market volume, driven almost entirely by domestic production, fluctuated within a moderate range before a noticeable contraction in the latter part of the period.

After remaining steady at around 29 000 kg annually from 2018 to 2020, the market expanded by over 6% in 2021 to reach 31 165 kg. This increase marked the highest volume recorded in recent years. However, this growth reversed sharply, with the market shrinking by nearly 10% in 2022 and falling further to 26 320 kg in 2023.

The minimal role of trade flows meant that changes in domestic output directly shaped market size. The decline from the 2021 peak represented a significant reduction in available goat meat, indicating a shift in production levels within the country.

Following a two-year decline, Armenia's goat meat production has rebounded. In 2020, the country produced 29 390 kg of goat meat, showing minimal change from the previous year. Compared to 2019, production remained largely stable. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, overall production fell by 23.3%, which translates to an average annual decrease of 8.5%. The lowest production level was observed in 2019 at 29 250 kg. The most significant drop occurred in 2018, with a decline of 22.4%.
