Between 2018 and 2020, the market for salted, brined, dried or smoked pork in Armenia was shaped by increased deliveries from Russian suppliers, who strengthened logistical ties, supporting stable volumes around 1 050 tons. The COVID-19 pandemic then disrupted supply chains in 2020, reducing imports and pulling the total market volume down to 996 tons.

Market volume rebounded to 1 142 tons in 2021, driven by Russian producers' deeper penetration into the HoReCa sector and a surge in imports. In April 2022, meetings between Russian suppliers and Armenian processors like NatFood and Bacon Products led to agreements on trial pork shipments for delicatessen production. However, the market contracted to 1 086 tons that year, partly due to a consumer preference shift towards dietary meats such as turkey.

By 2023, the market volume declined further to 965 tons, continuing the downward trend amid rising exports and lower domestic production.

Armenia's production of salted, brined, dried, or smoked pork has declined for the second year in a row. In 2020, the country produced 989 tonnes, marking a 4.4% decrease from the previous year. Looking at the period from 2017 to 2020, overall production fell by 3.7%, which translates to an average annual decline of 1.2%. The highest production level was recorded in 2018 at 1 045 tonnes, which also saw the largest annual increase of 1.8%.

The import market for salted, brined, dried, or smoked pork in Armenia showed significant volatility during this period. Imports reached their lowest point in 2020 at 7 048 kg, a sharp drop of 55.4% from the previous year. In contrast, the peak was in 2019 with 15 794 kg, representing an 83.1% increase from 2018. Overall, there was a 2.2-fold difference between the minimum in 2020 and the maximum in 2019.

From 2017 to 2020, Italy and Russia remained the top sources for Armenia's imports of salted, brined, dried, or smoked pork in volume terms. Together, they accounted for 82.4% of total imports, with other countries contributing smaller shares.

After increasing for two consecutive years, Armenia's imports of salted, brined, dried, or smoked pork in value terms declined in 2020. That year, imports totaled 72.6 thousand US dollars, down 54.7% from 2019. Over the full period from 2017 to 2020, imports grew by 19.2%, averaging an annual increase of 6.0%. The highest value was recorded in 2019 at 160.1 thousand US dollars, while the largest annual rise occurred in 2018 with a 68.2% increase.

In value terms, Italy dominated Armenia's imports of salted, brined, dried, or smoked pork from 2017 to 2020, holding an 83.7% share of the total. The remaining imports were distributed among other trading partners.
